Bundi, the beautiful town of Rajasthan is known for its royal palaces, baolis(step wells) temples and chhatris with carved pillars and tanks. There are around 50 step wells and tanks in Bundi. The town is located on the foothills of the Aravali Mountains. The history of Bundi dates back to 1193 AD to the reign of Prithviraj Chauhan. During the reign of Had Chauhans, Bundi and Kota were together known as Hadoti. Later both Bundi and Kota were separated into individual states. The princely town is surrounded by a huge wall with four gateposts at four corners.


Attractions Of Bundi

Taragarh Fort
Built in 1354 AD by Ajaipal Chauhan, Taragarh Fort is one of the massive forts of Rajasthan. It was once the royal house of the Rajputs. The main entrance of the fort is flanked by two beautiful marble elephants. The gateway of the fort is almost in ruins but the fort still retains its old world charm. Two main attractions of the fort are the colossal battlement called Burj and a large reservoir carved out of rock. You can enjoy amazing views of the city from Taragarh Fort.


Bundi Palace
The stunning Bundi Palace adjoining Taragarh Fort is a great destination of Bundi to visit. The extremely beautiful paintings adorning the interiors of the palace are notable. An art gallery inside the palace is dedicated to the rich and rare collection of miniature paintings depicting the story of Shri Radha-Krishna.


Baolis or Step Wells
The Baolis of Bundi attract the attention of every tourist coming to Bundi. Carved out meticulously, the Baolis speak volumes about the expertise of the craftsmen of Rajasthan. Raniji ki baoli (Queen's step well) is very attractive and is worth a visit. With a depth of 46 m, theĀ  Queen's step well is known for its exquisite carvings.


Ratan Daulat
It is an establishment housing a stable for nine horses and a Hatia Pol, built by Rao Raja Ratan Singh.

Other intersting places to visit in Bundi are the Chhattar Mahal, Sukh Mahal, Phool Sagar and Eighty Four Pillared Cenotaph.
