The Diamond In The Crown Of Rajasthan


The very sight of this “Golden City” of Rajasthan put onlookers under a magic spell. Located in the heart of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer is a land of mesmerizing sand dunes, opulent havelis, bewitching palaces and beautiful Jain temples. Jaisalmer was founded by Rawal Jaisal in 1156 AD. During medieval times, Jaisalmer was an important part of a trade route connecting India to Egypt, Arabia, Persia, Africa and the West.


Attractions Of Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer Fort or Sonar Ka Quila
Jaisalmer Fort or Sonar Ka Quila is one of the most beautiful attractions of Jaisalmer. It is located on Trikuta Hill overlooking the golden sand dunes. Its foundation was laid in 1156 by the Bhati Rajput ruler, Jaisal. The wonderful attractions inside the Fort are the Raj Mahal, Jain temples and Laxminath temple.


Havelis of Jaisalmer
The marvellous havelis of Jaisalmer are a testimony to its rich cultural heritage. The architectural beauty and luxury of the havelis are admired by tourists from across the globe. Patwaji Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki HaveliĀ  and Nathmalji Ki Haveli are the most famous havelis of Jaisalmer. The fabulous stone work, paintings and carvings of these havelis are very impressive.


Desert Festival
The lively Desert Festival is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in the golden city of Rajasthan, when the people of Rajasthan adorned in colourful dresses and beautiful jewellery look very attractive. The various stalls in the festival offer a wide array of handicrafts and traditional delicacies of Rajasthan. Dance and music are an integral part of the festival. The festival is celebrated in the month of January/February.


Fort Rajwada
It is a luxurious heritage hotel offering a royal stay to the tourists. Covering an area of 20 acres, the heritage hotel boasts of stunning interiors and pleasant exteriors. It was designed by the well-known opera designer Ms. Stephanie Engeln. There are 65 rooms inĀ  Fort Rajwada, all with a regal ambiance.
