The 1,444 pillars of the temple are amazingly carved and no two pillars are alike. The meticulously carved nymphs playing the flute in various dance postures look breathtaking. The assembly hall houses two bells weighing 108 kg. All the statues of the temple face one or the other statue. The inscription on a pillar near the main shrine reads that the temple was constructed by an architect named Deepaka in 1439. This temple was rated as one of the top 77 wonders in a contest for the new seven wonders of the world.
