Nanda Devi National Park


Nanda Devi National Park is situated around the high peak of Nanda devi, Uttarakhand. Beautiful surrounding and rich flora fauna attract a large number of wildlife lovers every year.  Mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views create a different atmosphere. This paradise is a perfect tourist destination for pilgrims and nature lovers. Over the years, Nanda Devi hill has been honoured as the manifestation of the Goddess Parvati.

Inscribed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Nanda Devi national park is encircled with several
lofty peaks. In 1982, it was declared as a national park and is categorized under 'strict nature reserve' by IUCN. Roaring waterfalls, lush green meadows, magnificent mountain, architecture and God gifted wilderness are the factors that describe the Nanda Devi National Park in the best way.


Wildlife in Nanda Devi National Park

Nanda Devi National Park is counted amongst one of the most beautiful national parks. It includes different species of butterfly, including Common Yellow Swallowtail, Common Blue Apollo, Dark-clouded Yellow and Queen of Spain.

The park also offers different opportunities for bird watching. The species includes Crested Black Tit, Orange-flanked Bush Robin, Blue-fronted Red start, Indian Tree Pipit, Yellow-bellied Fantail Flycatcher, Vinaceous-breasted Pipit, Common Rosefinch and Nutcracker.

The species of animals that are easily visible in this park includes Himalayan Musk Deer, Himalayan Tahr, Snow Leopard, Common Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear and Brown Bear.


Flora

The most common flora of this park includes Fir, Rhododendron, Birch and Juniper.


Activities

Tourists can enjoy trekking that starts from Munsyari and finishes at Malari.


Other Attraction

Rainee Village is known as the root centre of famous Chipko movement, the movement against the timber contractors. Protesters expressed their movement by hugging the trees.

Lata is a famous village that houses the idol of Nanda Devi's in an ancient temple.
