Nahan, Himachal Pradesh

Enjoying a pleasant climate throughout the year, Nahan is an arresting town. Located on an isolated ridge in the Shiwalik hills, Nahan offers pleasing views of lush green fields. The city was established by Raja Karan Prakash in 1621. Several saints are associated with the land of Nahan. However, it is believed that the city derives it name from the Nahar saint who once lived here. The clean and dust free streets of the town are no less than an attraction. Located at an altitude of 932 m, the city has an artificial lake, temples and gardens.


Suketi Fossil Park

It is a wonderful attraction housing fibreglass models of pre-historic animals. The park is  the first of its kind in Asia to be developed at the exact site where fossils were discovered. This Fossil Park is located on the bank of Markanda river. The Park boasts of six sets of life-size models of Stegodonganesa Sivatherium, Hexaprotodon-Sivalensis, Colosschelys Atlas, Paramachaerdus and Crocodilia—the animals which once lived here.


Trilokpur Temple

This beautiful temple is located at a distance of 23 km from the Nahan city. It is an important temple of the Hindus, built by Raja Dip Prakash in 1573.


Dhaula Kuan

Located 20 km from Nahan, Dhaula Kuan is famous for an orchard full of citrus plants and mangoes, and a fruit canning factory of various kinds of juices, jams, pickles and canned fruits. There is also a research station in Dhaula Kaun where research on tropical fruits is carried out.


Kastasan Devi Temple

Located a little ahead of Dhaula Kuan, The Kastasan Devi Temple is the place where Raja Jagat Singh defeated the army of Rulam Quadir Rohilla in a battle. The temple was built by the Raja whose victory is still celebrated in the temple.
