Paonta Sahib

Paonta Sahib is a small town, an important pilgrimage centre of the Sikhs and  Hindus. Encircled by Sal forests, the historic town of Paonta Sahib was founded by the tenth Sikh Guru Govind Singh Ji who lived in this town for around four years. This town is also growing rapidly as an industrial centre. The main industries in the town are  cement (Cement Corporation of India), Rajbhan), pharmaceuticals(Ranbaxy Pvt Ltd), textiles (Malwa cotton and spinning mills of Oswal group) and chemicals. The town is located on the banks of the Yamuna river, which plays an important role in enhancing its scenic beauty. The wonderful views of the river are very refreshing. Accommodation is not at all a problem in the town as there are several hotels located in and around Paonta Sahib.

Gurudwara Paonta Sahib

It is the most important and famous pilgrimage of the Sikhs in Paonta Sahib. The tenth  Sikh Guru Govind Singh Ji lived in this Gurudwara for four years and during his stay he wrote the 'Dasam Granth'. Within the boundary of the Gurudwara lies the Shri Talab Asthan, a place where he would distribute salaries. Sri Dastar Asthan is another venue inside the Gurudwara where interesting competitions such as turban tying were held and judged by Guru Govind Singh. The Gurudwara is also houses a monument established in memory of Kalpi Rishi. The museum inside the Gurudwara has a collection of the pens of the Guru and also the weapons of the bygone era.

Yamuna Temple

Located near the Gurudwara Paonta Sahib, the Yamuna Temple is a beautiful temple dating back to the ancient time. Dedicated to the goddess Yamuna, the temple is visited by devotees from far and wide.
